Most people take for granted that the air they breathe is clean and safe. However, certain situations can cause air to become hazardous to health and safety. Some people may work around these types of situations on a daily basis and need proper protection to keep them safe. It is important for employees who may be exposed to these potentially hazardous environments to know what type of respirator is needed for their situation. They must know how to choose the correct respirator, as well as how to properly use and maintain it. Using best practices will help ensure the safety of all employees working with respirators. When a worker does not take precautions against these hazards, acute or chronic illnesses involving the respiratory and cardiovascular systems can develop.
